for auto insurance

For car owners and drivers, CURE offers both a basic and a standard policy. For drivers who may find the features and coverage necessary but not essential, a basic policy is an affordable and lower-cost alternative to a standard policy.

The premium is determined by your driving record.

Unlike many insurance companies, CURE Auto Insurance bases the price of your insurance on your driving record. When calculating an insurer’s risk of a driver getting into an accident, many factors are taken into account, including credit score, highest level of education, homeownership, and others. However, CURE considers this to be income discrimination and secondary to accident risks.

CURE is an excellent choice for consumers who live in NJ or PA, have great driving records, or have below-average credit histories or educational attainments. Those with good driving records but lower credit scores may be able to find better insurance here. Accidents, however, may cause rates to rise.

The answer from most insurers is the same, but consumers can always shop around online easily.

In contrast, married couples’ premiums at CURE were more expensive than the state average and more expensive than those at competitor companies like 21st Century or Allstate.

CURE quoted premiums ($2,195) which were 14% cheaper than 21st Century Assurance, and Allstate NJ Insurance Company quoted rates that were 26% cheaper ($1,882). This hypothetical married couple may have been able to save money by comparing two or more insurers.

Claims experience is poor to average.

Many customers report that they communicate back and forth with CURE during the claims process. When it comes to paperwork and information, company representatives can be unresponsive. A few policyholders report that their claims have been delayed by prolonged investigations, while others say they have been paid in full and efficiently.

A standard package and basic package are available.

As a general rule, CURE’s Basic Car Insurance package includes the following coverage in New Jersey:

  • 5,000 dollars in property damage coverage
  • $15,000 in personal injury protection medical coverage
  • maximum of $10,000 extended medical expenses coverage
  • lawsuit threshold of $10,000
  • Additionally, drivers can choose Bodily Injury Liability Coverage (up to $10,000) and Personal Injury Protection Coverage (with various deductibles and discounts on PIP premiums)

CURE Discounts on Auto Insurance

Here is a sampling of discounts offered by CURE to potential policyholders based on the company’s insurance filings.

As filed in Pennsylvania, the following list shows the discounts applicable to drivers.

It is possible that the same discounts are available in New Jersey, but we were unable to locate the rate filings for these policies, so consumers are advised to check with CURE to verify whether such discounts are available.

Discount for good drivers

A 35% good driver discount is available to CURE policyholders on Bodily Injury, Property Damage, Comprehensive, Collision, Basic First Party Benefits, and Medical Expense Benefits, if they meet the following criteria:

  • A minimum of three years’ driving experience is required for all drivers on the policy
  • All rated drivers for new businesses have been loss-free and have not committed minor or major violations for a period of three years immediately preceding their application.
  • Those who are loss-free, minor and major violation-free, and who have been insured with CURE for at least two years can receive a 40% discount on their policy.

Discount for parking

Customers of CURE Auto Insurance are eligible for discounts on comprehensive and collision coverage if they park their vehicles as follows:

  • Discount for Parking Off-Street: Vehicles that are regularly parked off-street are eligible for a 15% discount. Parking in a driveway or non-secure facility is eligible for the discount
  • We offer a 50% discount for those vehicles that are usually parked in a garage or secure parking lot that provides 24 hour guard service and/or requires a security code key to enter and exit. Documentation is required.

“Great rates for myself and my “at risk driver” teen. Had an accident tonight. Hopefully things run smoothly and timely! I’m a single mother who works full time. I can’t have my car gone for an extended amount of time. I’ll update if my experience turns out to be not so good. So far they have been great!”
Dawn Johnson

“Best insurance price I’ve ever had most places charge more than your car note. Not cure! The staff are helpful and friendly like they actually care. I’ve referred family to them and they had the same great experience. I’ll keep referring people to them because we’ve been getting ripped off for too long with these other car insurance companies because of the area we live in.”

“Worst quote I have received for my cars in Michigan by a long shot. Billboard advertisement is entirely misleading. 3800 quote vs 1400 I’m paying now with better coverage at progressive. No thank you.”

Felix Mueller

“This insurance company is by far the MOST affordable and convenient after contacting literally EVERY other company prior to Cure’s arrival in Michigan. Cure is from NJ. They are a Godsend. Everyone else wanted $400-$600 down. And $200-$300 monthly. Cure was $184 down and $97 monthly. This is FULL COVERAGE!!!! Call and ask for Natalie. She was wonderful and so very helpful. But any agent will be fine. Natalie is just really sweet and was always right there through the process for us.”

“Great price for insurance! Loses a star due to not having a mobile app, and being a little while obnoxious to pay your bill. 8/10 recommended please make a mobile app that you can easily pay your bill on 🙂”

Seth Bowman
“Had a claim in since July with the adjuster Mackenzie Giuliano who approved the claim pending documents – after receiving the docs signature was missing on the title instead of letting me know she denied the claim and sent a letter for my mother to go pick the car up in addition she told the lot that she was not responsible for the garage payment which was over $3,000.00 – right after she changed that to saying she was responsible then the car was scheduled to be released to my mother. Fast forward to now the same tow driver went to pick the cat up. All tires are gone, windshield busted and Mackenzie decided she doesn’t want to speak to my mom because “she asked for documents and the title was sent to her unsigned” Maybe it’s not the company as a whole but Mackenzie is the worst experience anyone can have with an adjuster she was rude and disrespectful at time and there were many instances when the communication magically cut off.”
Ms. Magloire

“My wife got into an accident that totaled our car. 3 months after the accident and them taking the car, they were still not answering or paying out on the claim. A month after thanksgiving we still got the same “closed for the thanksgiving holiday, will return Monday” voice mail… by the time it was paid out, I was in massive default with the auto loan (financed) and the value of the car had dropped significantly by the time the gap coverage company for the paperwork and cut they’re check for the balance. I still owe $3k on the car after all was said and done. Pretty much ANY company will be better when/if the time comes..”

Steve Comer
“I had the balance of a bill due yesterday, Sunday. Obviously I couldn’t get the money for the payment with banks closed. I’ll have a deposit in the bank first thing this morning, by 10am. Can I make the balance payment of 105.oo this afternoon??? My policy renews on the 22nd, Wednesday with another payment”

Jim McCormick

“I got there insurance and was in a car accident and had my car towed to the dealership for repairs it took them 3 weeks to get a claim adjuster out there 2 weeks later I had to call them and they told me that the person to was handling my claim had don’t work for them anymore 1week after that I get a call from them saying my car was a total loss and told me how much they were going to pay me for it they went to the dealership and towed the car now they are tell me they cancelled my insurance the same month I got it now my car is at yard somewhere and I have to go pick it up and pay whatever charges it is, so now I car car in which I’m paying for and can’t not drive it. But I will see them in court..”

Orlando Reed
“This is the BEST INSURANCE I have found so far…$320 down(1st and last month) and $155 a month FULL COVERAGE…if you can’t do better than that, don’t even bother to call me!!!!”

My experience with CURE auto insurance has been satisfying thus far. The rates are more reasonable than others however the test will be their customer service if a claim is filed. Hopefully it will not happen…

Best rates ever received in my 35 years of driving in Detroit. And so sad how Michigan let insurance companies rob people with a pen for so many years. Big shout out to the Dems, you rock!
